Marin City, a historic community with deep roots, emerged during World War II as a bustling shipyard town. Thousands of workers, many of them African Americans from the South, migrated to the area to support the war effort. While the shipyard's closure in the 1950s marked a significant shift, the community persevered, facing systemic challenges and environmental injustices.
